How can you claim Regina is strong? She became abuser just like her mother. She had it hard but just the fact she is still alive doesnt make her strong.

I’m not “claiming” anything. Saying Regina is strong is a statement of fact.

She has this unbreakable strength that no amount of heart breaking, tragic life experiences can hinder even for a second.

Think about it. Once she knew she’d never marry her true love. She’d never bare his children. She’d never grow old with him. She thought she’d never be happy again, it was her strength that got her out of bed every morning.

When Henry ran from her and called another woman “mom” and made her feel like nothing. When she saw what she thought was her only chance at happiness after Daniel leave her and the curse she thought was the answer to her deepest desires completely dismantle in front of her, it was her strength that kept her fighting.

When she realized Henry’s best chance wasn’t with her. When she realized there was only one way to ensure his safety. When she realized what the mistakes she had done had caused them, it was her strength that made her decide to sacrifice her life for others.

When everything fell apart. When she had to say goodbye to her son. When she had to lose the only thing that meant anything to her. It was her strength that gave her the power to face the consequences and to give her own happiness to a woman she’d once called an enemy.

When she had nothing left and no reason to live and wanted only to sleep and never wake up until her child returned, it was her strength that kept her awake.

When the woman she had once blamed for everything in her life was in danger, it was her strength that had her risking her life to save her.

When she had the chance of love again after so terribly long without, it was her strength that had her taking a chance that frightened her so much.

She is nothing like her mother. What an insult. Her mother is the woman that murdered her own daughter’s true love. That thought power was more important than love. That at one point, considered killing her own child.

Regina is the woman that has true love with her child. That decided Henry was more important than everything. More important than her curse, which she had thought was the most important thing prior. That was willing to give her life for her child. She was willing to give her life for the very ones she had considered enemies.

Regina is the woman that learned to overpower the darkness. That survived tragedy and spent years in mourning- years giving in to her darkest urges. But managed, after decades, to turn it all around. That no matter how far and how hard she fell, she still managed to change her entire life. She changed her entire self.

Regina was abused. Regina suffered the worst tragedy. Regina had happiness taken time and time again. She was manipulated time and time again. She was tortured. Nearly killed.

But Regina Mills turned everything around. She changed everything. Because she was brave enough, powerful enough, strong enough, to make the decision to be the best mother she could be. The best person she could be. To be good and be a hero.

How can I claim she is strong? How can you watch a woman once so broken and overcome with darkness and evil, transform in front of our very eyes to a self-sacrificing hero and claim anything else?
